Sava Green Bridge is Zagreb’s oldest traffic bridge, built way back in 1939. Its historical feature is that at that time it had the bridge arch with the longest span of all railway bridges in Europe.
The name “Hendrix’s Bridge” was given thanks to the Hendrix graffiti that has persistently appeared on the bridge since the 80s; despite the efforts of the city authorities to remove it, the graffiti would reappear in the same place after a while.
The persistence of the unknown graffiti artist’s idea caused the citizens to start informally calling it the Hendrix bridge, and in 2015 an initiative was launched to rename it – the city of Zagreb agreed to the name, but not to the graffiti, which was permanently erased, and a light installation was made instead .
Thanks to the graffiti with the last name of the famous rock musician and guitar genius Jimi Hendrix, the bridge gained a cult status, became one of the symbols of the urban pop culture of the city of Zagreb, and part of the collective consciousness of the people of Zagreb.
This collection preserves the memory of the former appearance of the bridge and the original inscription. The bridge, which in reality connects the old and new parts of the city, now connects the past and the present, symbolizes youthful rebelliousness, and makes an ideal unisex gift. It comes in silver and brass, coated with a green patina, and is available as a bracelet, necklace, and ring.
